HIGH POINT, NC - In the first game of a three-game home series the High Point Rockers celebrate a 7-5 victory against the York Revolution.
The Rockers were scoreless for four innings until second baseman Michael Russell hit a fly to right field, allowing leftfielder Quincy Latimore to cross home plate. With four runs in the fifth inning, the Rockers lead 4-1.
In top of the fifth inning, starting pitcher Edwin Carl tied the Rockers’ strikeout record at 12 strikeouts.
Third baseman Hector Gomez went back-to-back with home runs with a solo home run in the 6th inning and a two-run home run to left-center field in the 7th inning, scoring center fielder Jared Mitchell. The Rockers enter the top of the eighth leading 7-5.
The Rockers would hold on to win 7-5 and would continue their three game winning streak.
