ROCKERS CLINCH PLAYOFF BERTH IN INAUGURAL SEASON

First two home games scheduled for Sept. 24th & 25th

High Point, NC - In their inaugural season, the High Point Rockers defeated the Long Island Ducks by a score of 8-2 to clinch a playoff in the Atlantic League Playoffs.

During the third inning, Joe Van Meter threw a wild pitch, allowing Daniel Fields to bring in the first run of the game for the Ducks. Things would quickly favor the Rockers in the fourth inning.

Michael Russell would single on a line drive to center field, allowing Stephen Cardullo to score. Russell, Hector Gomez, Quincy Latimore and Jared Mitchell would all score runs in the fourth inning for the Rockers.

In the top of the fifth, things would go from bad to worse for the Ducks, as Hector Gomez would come in to score on a balk. David Washington would single on a line drive to right field, allowing Steve Lombardozzi to score the final run of the night for the Ducks.

Hector Gomez would hit his 12th home run of the season  to extend the Rockers lead to 7-2. In the top of the eighth inning, Tyler Ladendorf would get that much needed home run to seal the win for the Rockers. Ladendorf’s 13th home run put the eighth and final on the board for the Rockers.

The Rockers will play one more game on the road at Bethpage Ballpark in Long Island tomorrow night before heading home to BB&T Point on Tuesday, Sept. 24th at 6:30PM for Game One of the Atlantic League Playoffs. To get your tickets, call 336-888-1000.
