LTL Company offers complimentary admission to High Point Rockers baseball game with food donation

THOMASVILLE, N.C. (July 23, 2019) – Old Dominion Freight Line, the Official Freight Carrier of Major League Baseball, along with WGHP FOX8 will present Christmas in July to benefit The Salvation Army at the High Point Rockers baseball game on Thursday, July 25, 2019.

To support neighbors with food insecurity in the Triad, fans who bring three or more non-perishable food items per person will receive complimentary admission into the game. Gates open at BB&T Point at 5:30 p.m., and the game begins at 6:30 p.m.

“With children out of school for the summer and spending more time at home, the need for food increases, and more people look to The Salvation Army for help,” said Dick Podiak, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Old Dominion Freight Line. “Old Dominion and FOX8 are longtime partners of The Salvation Army, and we are excited to expand our support beyond the annual Triad Holiday Concert Series.”

Old Dominion isn’t the only local company in on the fun. During the game, if a player from either team hits a home run into the large Salvation Army Kettle, one lucky fan will win a 2019 Acadia FWD SLE-2, courtesy of Vann York Auto. If a player hits the kettle, one lucky fan will win a one-year lease of the car.

“We are honored to partner with Old Dominion Freight Line, the Salvation Army, Vann York Auto and FOX8 for this important cause,” said Ken Lehner, President of the High Point Rockers. “We have promised all along that BB&T Point will be about more than just Rockers Baseball and this is a perfect example.”

The Christmas in July event will supplement the 2019 Triad Holiday Concert Series presented by Old Dominion and FOX8. The concerts will be in Burlington, N.C. on Dec. 13, Winston-Salem on Dec. 20 and Greensboro on Dec. 21. The holiday concerts performed by local symphonies are free of charge with a non-perishable food donation to The Salvation Army.
