High Point, NC- The Rockers fall to the Somerset Patriots 3-0 in the first game of the three-game series. The Patriots were able to keep the Rockers off the scoreboard with a well-orchestrated team effort from the pitching staff.
Somerset took the lead in the 5th inning when Yovan Gonzalez singled to left field which bought in Michael Crouse from second base. Then in the top of the 6th inning, the Patriots scored a pair of runs following RBI base hits from Mike Ohlman and Alfredo Rodriguez.
In the bottom of the 6th the Rockers were able to load the bases with no outs. The Patriots were able to get out of the jam without allowing a run after a strikeout and an inning ending double play.
Rain began to fall in the later innings of the game, but the game was still able to be played without any delays.
The top hitters for the Rockers in tonight’s game was Tyler Ladendorf went 1-4 on the night with a double and Stephen Cardullo who went 1-2 with two walks.
For the Somerset Patriots, Brett Oberholtzer earned the win on the night and Mike Antonini recorded the save. The Rockers starting pitcher Edwin Carl received the loss giving up three earned runs.
The Rockers will be back in action tomorrow night at 6:30 PM for game two of the three game series against the Somerset Patriots.
