ROCKERS FALL TO SKEETERS 6-3

High Point looks to rebound tomorrow night

Sugar Land, TX - The High Point Rockers entered tonight's game on a five game winning streak and closing in on the Long Island Ducks lead. After a rain delay, the Rockers weren't able to get the ball rolling and fell 6-3 to Freedom Division leading Sugar Land Skeeters.

The first inning started with a Juan Silverio home run, putting the Skeeters up two early. Jason Martin would single on a line drive to center field, bringing in Denis Phipps for the third run of the inning.

With bases loaded in the bottom of the third inning, Javier Betancourt would be walked, allowing Silverio to walk in for the run. The Rockers would get out of the inning and try and make a charge.

Hector Gomez would single on a ground ball to center field. bringing in second basemen Tyler Ladendorf to put the Rockers on the board. Viosergy Rosa would hit a ground ball to left field, allowing Richie Shaffer to score. With the Rockers just two runs back from the Skeeters, Blair Beck refused to keep it that way. Beck would hit his first home run of the season to put the Skeeters up 5-2.

Denis Phipps would hit a home run in the seventh inning to seal the win for the Skeeters. Nick Rumbelow would earn the win, making Seth Simmons the losing pitcher.
