Waldorf, MD- In the final day of a three game series, the High Point Rockers defeated the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs by a final score 9-4.
It was a big day offensively for the Rockers, especially for left fielder Quincy Latimore who was responsible for three of the nine total runs scored. His first inning double brought home third basemen Myles Schroder; followed by a third inning solo home run, the 200th home run of his professional career.
Schroder’s fifth inning triple sent home three runners to cap off the day. He finished 2-5 with a team high three RBIs, followed closely by Latimore’s 3-4 at bats and two RBIs.
Three different Rockers’ players hit a home run, including Latimore, designated hitter Viosergy Rosa and second baseman Tyler Ladendorff.
Seth Simmons was the starting pitcher for High Point, he struck out five batters in four innings. Simmons finished with 58 strikes in 96 pitches and an ERA of 3.86. Akeel Morris checked in to relieve Simmons, followed by Kyle Hansen and Trevor Frank. Morris threw 16 strikes and two strikeouts and Hansen had 14 strikes with two strikeouts.
With an overall record of 33-25, the High Point Rockers are currently tied for second place in the Liberty Division with the Somerset Patriots. Both teams are just two wins outside of the first place Long Island Ducks.
The Rockers will begin their five game road series against the Freedom Division leader Sugar Land Skeeters June 25th.
