Waldorf, MD – The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs defeat the Rockers in another 1-run game in the series by a score of 4-3. The Blue Crabs take the first two games of the three-game set. The Rockers fall to 32-25 on the season.
The Rockers opening the scoring after Kalian Sams ripped a ball past the third basemen brining in two runners in the top of the second inning. The Rockers would take a three-run led in the third when a wild pitch brought in Quincy Latimore.
Dominic DeMasi started on the mound for the Rockers. DeMasi was dealing through four innings; he totaled eight strikeouts and allowed one baserunner in four innings. Then in the fifth inning, there was a stoppage of play for an DeMasi injury. The injury was not serious, but DeMasi was not the same. The Blue Crabs put together four hits in the inning and scored four runs.
Michael Kelly earned the win for the Blue Crabs in six and two thirds innings pitched. The save went to James Dykstra who came in to pitch for Southern Maryland in the ninth. The Rockers’ Dominic DeMasi received his first loss of the year.
The major contributors to the Rockers offense tonight was Kalian Sams and Myles Schroder. Sams went 1-4 at the plate and driving in two runs. Schroder was 1-3 but reached base four times; he hit a single, drew a walk, reached on an error, and was hit by a pitch.
The Rockers are back in action tomorrow in the series finale against the Blue Crabs. First pitch is scheduled for 2:05pm at Regency Furniture Stadium.
