High Point, NC - The High Point Rockers had a big day at BB&T Point Stadium, continuing their five game winning streak against the York Revolution with a final score of 9-3. Rockers infielder, Dante Bichette Jr. was also announced as the Atlantic League Player of the Month.
The Revolution posted one run in the first inning which was quickly defended by the Rockers. Second baseman Tyler Ladendorf got things started right away for the Rockers first at bat with a leadoff home run, tying the score 1-1. In the bottom of the second inning, Stephen Cardullo hit a two RBI home run bringing the score to 3-1.
The eighth inning solidified the win for the Rockers.. Bases were loaded and Cardullo was walked bringing in one run. With bases still loaded, Brett Austin cleaned the bases with a dropped ball in right field bringing in three more runs. Austin was also able to score the last run finalizing the score 9-3.
The Revolution put up a good fight throughout the beginning of game but were not able to keep up. In the fourth inning the Revolution had bases loaded but Rockers pitcher, Ryan Williams, and first baseman, Viosergy Rosa, rallied together to get the last out, blocking the score at home. The Revolution were able to post their last run in the top of the seventh.
The winning pitcher was, Ryan Williams, who was able to put up two strikeouts in the game Matthew Grimes took the loss.
