High Point, N.C - The Rockers beat the Revolution in 10 innings as High Point takes the first game of a four-game set. The Winning pitcher was Sam Runion and the losing pitcher was Peter Tago. While he didn’t get the Win, Joe Van Meter was dominant for High Point as he recorded 8 Strikeouts. This milestone set the new record for most strikeouts by a pitcher in Rockers history previously held by Tyler Herron who had 7.
The Rockers got things started in the second inning when Tyler Marincov hit a Triple off the centerfield wall and was driven in by Stephen Cardullo in the next at bat. The scoring continued into the next inning when Richie Shaffer hit one out for a solo home run to center in the bottom of the 3rd.
York’s Isaias Tajeda brought in Alexi Casilla to make it a 1 run game with a double to right field in the top of the 6th inning. Then, in the bottom of the 8th, Melky Mesa tied things up for the revolution with a home run to left field.
Myles Schroder walked things off for High Point with a single to right field which allowed Giovanny Alfonzo to score the winning run. The Rockers Improve to 22-15 on the season.
The Rockers will continue their four-game series against the York Revolution June 4th at 6:30 at BB&T Point. Looking forward, High Point will head out on a seven-game road trip to face The Long Island Ducks and the York Revolution.
