High Point looks to rebound tomorrow night

High Point, NC –  After rain showers fell over BB&T Point, the High Point Rockers played host to the New Britain Bees for their seventh meeting of the season. Despite a late charge, the Rockers fell to the Bees 8-6 in the series-opener on Friday night.

The Bees posted a run in the top of the third inning, but the Rockers answered with RBI singles by Tyler Ladendorf and Dante Bichette Jr. to give the Rockers a 2-1 lead. In the fourth inning, the Bees brought home two more batters however, Chase Huchingson pulled the Rockers out of a jam with his first strikeout of the night.

Kyle Hansen allowed the Bees to load the bases in the seventh inning, but he was relieved by Daniel Gibson who gave up three runs. The Rockers rallied with a double by Hector Gomez, a single by Giovanny Alfonzo, and a homerun by Myles Schroder to stir up the pot, ending the inning 7-6 and giving the Rockers a chance to come away with the win. A single in the eighth inning added an insurance run for the Bees, leaving the final score at 8-6.

The winning pitcher tonight was Rainy Lara, recording two strikeouts and scattering five hits, while Huchingson picked up the loss. Jim Fuller recorded the save for the Bees.
