Waldorf, MD - The High Point Rockers made their inaugural debut at Regency Furniture Stadium where they beat the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 7-1. Seth Simmons would dominate on the mound for an impressive eight innings en route to his fourth win of the season.
The first inning started with a bang for the Rockers as Stephen Cardullo would double on a line drive to left field, brining in Tyler Ladendorf. Viosergy Rosa would hit a three run homer to give the Rockers a 4-0 lead as the first inning ended. In the top of the third inning, Brett Austin would double on a line drive to right field, bringing in Viosergy Rosa for the fifth run of the night.
Giovanny Alfonzo would hit a single which brought in Dante Bichette Jr. to give the Rockers a 6-0 win. In the bottom of the fourth, Frank Martinez would hit his fourth home run of the season to finally put the Blue Crabs on the board. Just when you thought the Blue Crabs had some momentum on their side, that wasn’t the case. Brett Austin would hit a homer in the top of the fifth, sealing the win for the Rockers 7-1.
Seth Simmons would be given his fourth win of the season after pitching eight innings, allowing just four hits. John Hayes would get his third loss of the year.
