High Point looks ahead to series against Blue Crabs

New Britain, CT - The High Point Rockers took on the New Britain Bees in what would be the final game of the series between the two teams. The Rockers were looking to come away with just one win this weekend, however that wouldn’t be the case as they fell 9-8 in extra innings.

Tyler Ladendorf would hit a ground ball to center field, bringing in Giovanny Alfonzo for the first run of the night. In the bottom of the third inning, Alexi Amarista would hit a home run to even things up at 1-1. Michael Baca would come in to score on an error by Taylor Motter. Diebinson Romero hit a line drive to center field, allowing Motter and Jonathan Galvez to score.

 In the top of the seventh inning, the Rockers found themselves down 2-3 and were looking to make something happen. Quincy Latimore would double, allowing Tyler Ladendorf and Stephen Cardullo to bring in runs. With the Rockers up in the top of the ninth inning, Ladendorf would hit a home run to give the Rockers a 5-3 lead. Alexi Amarista and Ozzie Martinez would help the Bees rally late, evening things up at 5-5. 

The Rockers and Bees would to extra innings for the second time against each other. Quincy Latimore continued his hot streak, hitting his second home runs in two games to give the Rockers a 7-5 lead. Ladendorf would hit a double which would bring in Viosergey Rosa for the eighth run of the night for the Rockers. 

Despite it looking like the Rockers had the win the bag, Alejandro De Aza would hit a double to bring in Jared James and Logan Moore. With the score at 8-8 in the bottom of the tenth inning, De Aza would bring in the final run of the night for the Bees, allowing the Bees to sweep the Rockers.

Sam Gervacio would earn his first win of the season while Trevor Frank would get his second loss. The Rockers will continue their road trip on Monday for a special Memorial Day game against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs at 6:45PM.
