High Point drops game one against New Britain

New Britain, CT – Riding on a lot of momentum heading into Friday’s game against the New Britain Bees, the High Point Rockers couldn’t capitalize on an early lead. Despite leading 3-0 early on, the Bees rallied back and handed the Rockers a 5-4 loss.

The first two runs of the night would come from the bat of Stephen Cardullo, who hit a two-run homer to give the Rockers a 2-0 lead in the first. Giovanny Alfonzo would hit a line drive to right field, bringing in Myles Schroder for the third run of the night for High Point.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Jared James would hit a line drive to right field allowing Alejandro De Aza to score for the Bees. Logan Moore would be hit by a pitch, walking Jason Rogers to home plate for another run. Alejandro De Aza would score on a line drive to right field by Jonathan Galvez in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Giovanny Alfonzo would bring in the final run of the night for the Rockers, but it wouldn’t be the deciding one. After a run by Jason Rogers, Darren Ford would bring in the fifth and final run of the night by the Bees. New Britain would hold on to win 5-4.

Brandon Fry would get the win while Brian Clark would be handed the loss. The Rockers will be back in action Saturday at 6:35PM at New Britain Stadium for game two of the three game series against the Bees.
