High Point, NC - The High Point Rockers take game two of the three game series against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs on Saturday. The Rockers won 10-3 with an assist from Quincy Latimore, who hit his 6th home run in 8 games, and Breland Almadova, who hit his first home run for the franchise.
After back-to-back singles, Southern Maryland scored 3 runs in the top of the 1st inning. High Point bounced back in the bottom with Dante Bichette Jr. doubling into left field off of Daryl Thompson to bring the Rockers up 2 runs. Latimore singled into right field, tying the game, 3-3, by the end of the 1st inning.
In the bottom of the 4th inning, Richie Shaffer and Giovanny Alfonzo scored off of a single from Almadova into center field. Stephen Cardullo hit a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Tyler Ladendorf and leading High Point, 7-3.
In the 5th and 6th innings, Latimore and Almadova both delivered big home runs to put the Rockers up by 6 runs.
The final scoring of the night was a single line-drive to right field from Bichette Jr., scoring Stephen Cardullo.
The game ended with Akeel Morris striking out Southern Maryland’s Frank Martinez at the top of the 9th inning. Right-hander Kyle Halbohn earns his first win of the season, leaving Daryl Thompson with the loss. The Rockers move to 14-8 and extend their 5-game win streak.
