Tyler Herron puts on impressive showing for High Point

Bridgewater Township, NJ – Tuesday’s game against the Somerset Patriots was an emotional rollercoaster for the High Point Rockers. Entering the bottom of the ninth inning with a 4-0 lead, Edwin Espinal hit a walk-off grand slam to give the Patriots a 5-4 victory.

Things were looking really good for the Rockers early on, as Hector Gomez hit a home run in the top of the first inning. The game remained a 1-0 score until the top of the fifth inning when Breland Almadova hit a double on a line drive to left field, bringing in Michael Baca for the run. In the top of the seventh, Tyler Ladendorf would hit a double on a line drive to left field, allowing Myles Schroder to score. Almadova would hit a triple, bringing in Ladendorf to give the Rockers a 4-0 lead.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, it was do or die time for the Patriots. With bases loaded, Edwin Espinal would take his place at home plate. Espinal hit a walk-off grand slam off a pitch from Trevor Frank, to seal the win 5-4 for the Patriots.

Jake Joyce would be given the win for the Patriots while Trevor Frank was handed the loss. Tyler Herron put on a clinic Tuesday night for the Rockers, pitching seven innings and striking out seven batters, only allowing three hits.

The Rockers will be back in action May 15th at 6:35PM at TD Bank Ballpark. The Rockers return home May 17th against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. To get your tickets, click here or call 336-888-1000.
