High Point makes statement in York

York, PA – The High Point Rockers made a statement in their first meeting against the York Revolution. The 2017 Atlantic League champions struggled to bring in runs as the Rockers made it look easy. With help from Stephen Cardullo’s grand slam, the Rockers won by a score of 13-6.

Dante Bichette Jr. hit a single in the top of the first, allowing Tyler Ladendorf and Giovanny Alfonzo to bring in the first two runs of the night for the Rockers. Henry Castillo hit a sacrifice fly, bringing James Skelton in to make it a one run game. In the top of the fifth inning, Quincy Latimore and Richie Shaffer hit back-to-back home runs for the Rockers. With the Rockers up 7-1, the Revolution finally answered with a Ryan Dent home run.

With bases loaded in the top of the sixth inning, Stephen Cardullo hit a grand slam all the way into the next area code. With Cardullo’s grand slam, the Rockers led with an impressive 11-1 lead. The Rockers would go on to win it 13-6, looking to carry the momentum over to tomorrow’s game. Stephen Johnson would pick up his first win as a Rocker, while Daniel Minor was handed the loss.

The Rockers will play the Revolution tomorrow night at 6:30pm as they try and come away with the series win. After a dominating win on Thursday night, the momentum is on the side of the High Point Rockers.
