High Point comes out on top in memorable pitching battle

High Point, NC - The High Point Rockers shutout the New Britain Bees 2-0 after a pitchers duel between Tyler Herron and Anthony Marzi.

Herron worked out of first, third, and fourth inning jams on his way to a scoreless six innings. The Rockers loaded the bases in the fifth inning, but Anthony Marzi worked out of the one-out jam with a strikeout and pop out to end the inning.

The Bees relieved Marzi in the seventh inning, allowing the Rockers to capitalize. Myles Schroder delivered an RBI single, driving in Breland Almadova who came on as a pinch runner for Quincy Latimore. An RBI fielder’s choice by Almadova forced Josh Mazzola out at second, but allowed Stephen Cardullo to bring the Rockers’ lead to 2-0.
