High Point, NC – For the second time in franchise history, a High Point Rockers player has had their contract purchased by a Major League Baseball organization. This time around it’s right handed pitcher Seth Maness who had his contract purchased by the Texas Rangers. Maness will join the Rangers Triple-A Affiliate, the Nashville Sounds.
During his short time in High Point, Maness dazzled in his only start with the team, pitching six innings, striking out five batters and allowing just one run and has a 1.50 ERA. This will be the third time in Maness’ career that he’ll be on a Triple-A Affiliate of a Major League team. Maness is no stranger to making it to “The Show”, having made the World Series with the Cardinals in his rookie season in 2013. Maness would later play for the Kansas City Royals of the American League.
In a corresponding move, the Rockers have signed left handed relief pitcher Brian Clark to their solid pitching core. Clark is coming to the Rockers from the Birmingham Barons, the Double-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. In his six seasons of playing professional baseball, Clark has a 21-18 record and a 3.39 ERA.
The Rockers will wrap up their three game series against the Somerset Patriots tonight at 6:35PM. The Rockers will play their home opener on Thursday May 2nd against the defending ALPB champion Sugar Land Skeeters. That game starts a seven-game homestand with exciting themes and promotions throughout.
